Have you ever had a day where you just wanted to throw your hands in the air and shout: "I give up!" If we are honest, most of us have done just that at some point in our lives. How easy it is to quit. It reminds me of something that a man once asked the late Rev. Kenneth E. Hagin when he inquired: "Brother Hagin, what does a man have to do to go to hell?" Hagin replied: "Nothing, nothing at all!" Quitting takes nothing, you can quit or give up in a quick moment, but ultimately, quitting or giving up will take from you. It will rob you of your perseverence and it displeases our Lord.
Often the Lord must wonder why his children fail to seek his help. I am reminded of an experience a fellow pastor once shared with me. Joel loved cars and he loved to work on them and use the extensive set of tools he had. One day he was trying to break loose a stubborn head bolt that wouldn't budge. He tried everything he knew to loosen the bolt but to no avail. During this difficulty, Joel's father would pass by and say: "Let me know when you're ready to get that bolt loose." This rubbed Joel the wrong way at first and he continued trying to remove the bolt until frustration finally took over. In fustration, Joel called to his father, who came over with a sleeve of pipe, placed it over the handle of the breaker bar and easily removed the bold. Joel was surprised that his father so easily performed the task by using a simple principle of physics. Joel learned two valuable lessons that day:
1. Don't wait until frustration overwhelms you to call upon your Father in heaven.
2. God has indeed supplied all the strength we need to accomplish what we need to do.
Frustration leads to defeat and is no stranger to the quitter. The Father's help is only a prayer away, and this is no stranger at all to those who persevere. Don't quit now churh, we are much too close to the finish line!
